Did You Know?

At least 109,000 people in our community have a disability. (U.S. Census)
With your help, United Way made it possible in 2002 for about 13,795 of the elderly and disabled to have healthy meals and the necessary equipment to help them live independently and feel more productive.

Did You Know?

There were at least 4,600 victims of domestic violence last year in our community. (The Florida Statistical Analysis Center, FDLE, Florida Uniform Crime Report 2002)

Some facts on high school drug use in our community: At age 18 at least 37 percent have used illicit drugs and at least 68 percent have used alcohol and/or illicit drugs. (Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Youth Substance Abuse Survey 2000)

With your help, United Way made it possible for about 1,820 substance abusers to get rehab counseling, and victims of violence to have a safe environment to be healthier and more self-sufficient.
