Ring Power Employees Donate to HELP on Eve of Thrift Store Re-opening
TAMPA, FLORIDA – June 13, 2016 – When HELP of Fort Meade’s thrift store burned in the early morning hours of March 10, the organization that was founded to meet the needs of the community lost one of their major funding sources. On Thursday, June 16 at 10:00 a.m., their new thrift store will open on the same block, at 202 West Broadway Street.
HELP called on the community to help stock the new thrift store and Ring Power employees answered. Ring Power is the Cat® equipment dealer serving Central Florida. Because Fort Meade is home to employees of the company’s surface mining division (formerly Bucyrus), the connection was made.
“We’re glad to help out where we can,” said Jonathan Long, a Power Systems division manager and Ring Power’s 2016 Employee Giving/United Way campaign chair. “I am from a very, very small community myself, so I understand just how important it is to have organizations like HELP — that are focused on the needs right here at home.”
“The surface mining unit became part of Ring Power less than two years ago, and I am glad they brought this to our attention,” said Long. “We got word out to our employees, and donations started coming in from our branches in Riverview, Lakeland, Orlando and even St. Augustine.”
