At 88, Evelyn still lives independently, in her own home. Nu Hope Elder Care, a United Way partner that keeps seniors healthy and independent, delivers nutritious meals to Evelyn. Good food that nourishes her, food that she’s no longer able to prepare herself. Evelyn first turned to Nu Hope when her husband’s health began to fail. She was his primary caregiver and over time, all of the responsibilities became too much for her. The family helped when they were able, but work schedules prevented them from preparing meals for the elderly couple.
She contacted Nu Hope and arranged for meals to be delivered to her husband and then – when her own health declined – to Evelyn as well. She credits Nu Hope with maintaining her husband’s health, extending his life. And she’s thankful that the agency continues to help her. At 88, she’s healthy and independent.
